Audrey Bamford tops the Big South Conference in the pentathlon, with her score of 3,012 points from the Liberty Open.

For the second week in a row, the Liberty men's and women's indoor track & field teams have each earned rankings in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I Regional Index. The Lady Flames are ranked No. 10 in the Southeast Region this week, while the Flames sit at No. 12.

Liberty is the only Big South Conference squad to appear in the Southeast Region women's listing, while Charleston Southern again joins the Flames in the men's ranking at No. 14.

Both the Flames and Lady Flames fared well in the field events at Friday and Saturday's Liberty Open at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center. On the women's side, Mia Aghaji won both the high jump (5-7) and triple jump (40-2), while qualifying for the ECAC meet in both events.

Freshman Mychelle Cumings shattered her own school record in the women's shot put with her winning throw of 47-5.25. She helped the Lady Flames claim three of the top four places in both women's throwing events.

On the men's side, Ryan Smith swept the shot put (58-4.75) and weight throw (59-8.5) titles, with season-best marks in both events. Teammate David Scouten recorded a personal-best shot put mark of 52-1.75, reaching the IC4A qualifying standard.

Liberty will travel to University Park, Pa., this Saturday for its first team-scored meet of the 2011-12 indoor season, the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup. Action will commence at 9 a.m. at Penn State's Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
