Liberty (10-7, 5-1 Big South) will wrap up its quick two-game homestand Monday at 7 p.m., when it plays Winthrop (10-8, 4-2 Big South) in a battle for second place in the Big South standings. Two of the hottest teams in the Big South Conference, the Lady Flames and Eagles are each riding four-game winning streaks.
The "Starting Five" - Today's Top Storylines
1) For the second Monday in a row, Liberty will play in a contest which has second place in the Big South standings at stake. The Lady Flames currently own the second position at 5-1, while Winthrop sits third in the conference at 4-2. Last Monday (Jan. 16), Liberty notched a 79-64 win at Charleston Southern, taking over sole possession of second place from the Buccaneers.
2) Winthrop has been playing well offensively in recent weeks, averaging 76.5 ppg during its current four-game winning streak. Liberty's highly-rated defense will try to keep the Eagles in check. The Lady Flames rank No. 2 in the Big South with 56.8 ppg allowed on the season, and opposing teams are managing just 52.3 ppg during Liberty's four-game winning streak.
3) Liberty will attempt to extend several streaks on Monday. The Lady Flames have won a season-high four straight games overall, seven straight meetings with Winthrop and 19 consecutive home contests against the Eagles. Liberty has also held Winthrop below the 60-point mark in 23 consecutive head-to-head matchups.
4) Winthrop features the Big South leader in both points (19.3) and assists (7.4) in Dequesha McClanahan, the national leader in three-pointers made (77) in Diana Choibekova and the national leader in three-point field goal percentage (49.4) in Samiya Wright.
5) Meanwhile, Liberty's Avery Warley is ranked No. 3 nationally in field goal percentage (62.1) and No. 11 in rebounds per game (10.8). Devon Brown is the Big South's second-leading scorer at 17.3 ppg.

-- Liberty will attempt to slow down Winthrop's explosive offense, which has averaged 76.5 ppg during the Eagles' current four-game winning streak.

A Look Back at Liberty's Win over Presbyterian College on Saturday
-- Liberty defeated Presbyterian College, 59-39, improving to 8-0 all-time against the Blue Hose and boosting its current season-long winning streak to four games.
-- It was the first time this season that Liberty has won when scoring less than 60 points.
-- The Lady Flames' 20-point win gave them a 25.3-point average margin of victory during their four-game winning streak.
-- Liberty stopped PC's two-game winning streak and became the first Big South team to defeat the Blue Hose by double digits this season.
-- The Lady Flames outrebounded their 44th straight opponent (46-29) and held their 39th consecutive opponent below 50 percent field goal shooting (PC finished the game at 24.6 percent).
-- Presbyterian College's top two scorers, Mariah Pietrowski and Dria David, entered the game averaging 22.9 ppg between them for the season. Liberty held the duo to just seven total points on Saturday, and no Blue Hose player reached double figures.
-- Despite seeing her career-long streak of 18 straight free throws halted during the second half, Avery Warley led all players with 16 points for the game. She also blocked three shots, claiming sole possession of third place in Liberty history with 134 career rejections.
-- Devon Brown scored in double digits for the 18th game in a row, dating back to last season. She finished with 13 points, leapfrogging Sharon Snodgrass for eighth place in program history with 1,176 career points.
-- Tolu Omotola's three rebounds pushed the redshirt junior's career total to 309 boards in her two seasons at Liberty. She joins teammates Warley, Brown and Danika Dale among the top 50 rebounders in program history.
-- Reagan Miller made all three of her field goals, including a three-point try.
Flirting with History
-- Jennifer Fairfax owns one of the longest-standing records in Liberty program history with her streak of 22 consecutive made free throws in 1991. A pair of current Lady Flames have gotten close to her mark recently, however.
-- Devon Brown saw her streak of 18 straight made free throws come to an end at Charleston Southern on Jan. 16. On Saturday against Presbyterian College, Avery Warley's string of 18 consecutive free throws was halted during the second half.
-- Brown owns the longest active streak on the team currently, after making six straight foul shots versus Presbyterian College on Saturday.
Winning a Defensive Battle
-- Saturday's 59-39 win over Presbyterian College marked the first time this season that Liberty has won when scoring less than 60 points. Last year, the Lady Flames won seven such games.
-- Avery Warley rebounded her own missed shot with 8:03 remaining in the first half of the Jan. 7 game against High Point, giving her 1,034 career boards. That broke Katie Feenstra's (2001-05) Liberty career rebounding record of 1,033 caroms.
-- Warley now has 1,084 rebounds for her career. That ranks second in Big South Conference history, 43 boards behind former Charleston Southern standout Kate Sanford's (1996-2000) conference record of 1,127 career rebounds.
More Milestones on the Horizon
-- Liberty's game at Campbell on Feb. 4 will be the 1,000th contest in program history. The Lady Flames are in their 37th season of collegiate basketball, after beginning the program in 1975-76.
-- Head coach Carey Green is 296-101 in his 13th season as Liberty's head coach, leaving him four victories shy of career win No. 300.
-- If Liberty wins its next four games, Green's 300th victory would happen during the 1,000th game in program history.
