Sophomore Middle Blocker Ashley Webber

Each Wednesday throughout the volleyball season, fans have had the opportunity to get to know the Liberty volleyball players a bit better through a question-and-answer session.  Today, the series concludes with sophomore middle blocker Ashley Webber.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
My favorite bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11.  This verse was a big part of me coming to play volleyball for Liberty!!
 
What is your favorite movie?
There are so many good movies that I have no idea which one to pick but I absolutely love The Notebook!!
 
What is your favorite memory while competing in your sport?
My favorite memory while playing volleyball would have to be beating La Jolla High School in the finals.
 
What is your most embarrassing memory while competing in your sport?
My most embarrassing memory while playing volleyball would have to be when I fell down the stairs in the Vines Center during practice when we had to run stadiums.
 
I came to Liberty because…
I knew this is where God wanted me to be and I knew this is where I wanted to play
volleyball for the next four years.
 
Share something that people don't know about you.
I am ambidextrous.  On the court I hit with my right hand but off the court I write and eat with my left, weird I know!
 
What has been your defining moment as an athlete?
My defining moment as an athlete would have to be when I played this past spring at the UVA tournament.  I had worked so hard all spring and when I stepped on the court I was able to see all my hard work put into action.
 
What is one question you would ask Dr. Falwell?
If you had one whole day to yourself, to do whatever you wanted, what would you do?
 
If you could be somebody else for a day, who would you be and why?
My dad, because he has an amazing job as a police officer and I am so proud of the bravery he displays daily not only for our family but for our city!!
 
Who is your favorite Liberty athlete?
KP, number 15 on the women's basketball team.
 
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Live life in the light of eternity and never give up.
 
If you could change one rule in your sport, what would it be and why?
Being over the net, because I think if you can jump high enough to get over the net without hitting it and still block the ball you should be allowed to.
 
After graduation I would like to … 
Start working as a weightlifting coach at a D1 college.
 
In my spare time, I like to …
Hang out with my friends, watch TV and spend time outside.
 
Words that describe me on the athletic field (and why) are …
Encouraging.  I feel that I am encourager on and off the court not only for my teammates but also for my friends and family.
 
If you could compete in any sport against any athlete, who would it be and why?
I would want to play volleyball against either Logan Tom or Karch Kiraly.
 
My craziest ambition in life is to …
Hopefully go to Africa one day and do some missions work there.
 
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
No, not really.
 
Who is one person in history that you would like to meet and why?
Princess Diana.  She seemed like an amazing young woman with so much to offer to this world but never had the chance.
 
A place I've always wanted to visit, but never had the chance is (and why)?
Fiji.  I have always wanted to go to Fiji because I have heard it is absolutely beautiful!!
