Lacrosse Adds UNC as Season, Home Opener
After announcing the 2012 slate earlier this month, the Liberty lacrosse team has added a contest with North Carolina for Feb. 15, making the game the Lady Flames' season and home opener. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
"We're excited to be adding UNC to our schedule, not only as our season opener, but also as the first game in our brand new facility," commented Liberty head coach Regan Denham. "It is a big step for our program to attract such a high caliber team to our home turf and we're looking forward to the challenge."
The Tar Heels are coming off a 15-6 campaign in 2011, in which they advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the third consecutive season.
The game will mark both the earliest start and earliest home game in Liberty history, as the program enters its third year of competition. Last year's March 1 game versus St. Francis (Pa.), an 11-10 victory, currently holds both of those distinctions.
The Lady Flames will then turn around quickly for their first road game, which is scheduled for Feb. 18, against Lafayette, in Easton, Pa.
