McIntosh, Moyer Tabbed as Team Captains
Liberty women's lacrosse head coach Regan Denham has announced senior defender Chloe McIntosh and sophomore midfielder Jen Moyer as the captains for the upcoming 2012 season.
McIntosh, a native of Dallas, Texas, will be serving as a co-captain for the third consecutive year. Having started in all 32 of Liberty's games, McIntosh played midfield before transitioning to a full-time defender, where Denham now refers to her as the "anchor" on the defensive end. In 2011, McIntosh corralled 46 ground balls and caused 12 turnovers. She is currently the program leader in ground balls with 68.
Moyer will be serving as a co-captain for the first time, after starting all 18 games in her freshman campaign. The Telford, Pa., native ranked third on the team in goals last season with 26, while also chipping in 10 assists. Playing midfield, Moyer also piled on the defensive statistics, raking in 26 ground balls and causing 10 turnovers. She also grabbed 32 draw controls to lead the team.
After closing the fall schedule in early November, the Lady Flames will return to the field in January in preparation for the program's third season of competition. Liberty will begin its 2012 season on the road, facing Lafayette at 1 p.m., Feb. 18, in Easton, Pa. The Lady Flames' home slate begins on March 4, when the team welcomes Cincinnati for the first game on Liberty's new turf field.
