Michael Robertson, Trey Wimmer and Ian Parmley have been named captains for the 2012 baseball season.

Head coach Jim Toman has announced the team captains for the 2012 Liberty baseball team.  Three captains and two alternates were voted upon by the players and the coaches.  The three captains for 2012 are junior first baseman/catcher Trey Wimmer, senior outfielder/pitcher Ian Parmley and senior outfielder Michael Robertson.  Senior infielder Zach Haley and senior right-hander John Niggli were selected as the alternates.

"I think the selection of these five guys was very well-deserved," said Toman.  "Each of these young men are student-athletes that have shown high character and strong leadership abilities."

"This year's team had about fifteen players that received votes for captain and I couldn't be happier with the work ethic, attitude and team chemistry the guys have shown all fall.  We certainly weren't perfect, but it has been a lot of fun so far to work with these guys."

Liberty is scheduled to open its 2012 season at Riley Park in Charleston, S.C., against Richmond on Feb. 17, as part of The Citadel Challenge. The Flames first home game is set for Feb. 21 against Radford at Worthington Stadium.
