Lady Flames Climb 2 Spots in Mid-Major Top 25

Prior to last night's contest against VCU, Liberty climbed to No. 18 in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Lady Flames had been ranked No. 20 in the preseason listing.

Green Bay (1-0) retains its No. 1 ranking, earning 25 of 31 first-place votes. The Women's Mid-Major Top 25, now in its second year of existence, is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

Liberty is the lone Big South Conference team listed in the this week's Top 25. High Point was listed among "others receiving votes."

The Lady Flames have opened the 2011-12 season with a 1-1 record, picking up a 61-46 victory at UNC Greensboro on Friday before dropping a 52-47 decision to VCU in last night's home opener. VCU, which had been ranked No. 19 in the preseason Mid-Major Top 25, dropped out of the rankings this week.

Liberty will return to Greensboro, N.C. for the second time in eight days, when the Lady Flames face North Carolina A&T Friday at 7 p.m. The Lady Flames will then come back to the Vines Center for a Tuesday 7 p.m. contest against Virginia-Wise.
