Freshman Jennifer Garzinski has posted one event victory this season, claiming the 100 breaststroke against Radford on Oct. 28.

The Liberty swimming team closes out the fall portion of its 2011-12 schedule by competing in the 2011 Radford Invitational, held at the Dedmon Center Natatorium, Thursday through Saturday.

This weekend's meet will serve as an introduction to the conference championship format, as it will feature the same program of events as the 2012 CCSA Championships. Each individual event will be contested in preliminary rounds during the morning session, with finals to be held each night.

Liberty will take on CCSA foes Radford, Campbell, North Carolina A&T, Georgia Southern and North Florida, in addition to Millersville, Mt. St. Mary's, St. Francis (Pa.) and Youngstown State. Last season's Radford Invitational saw the Lady Flames place sixth with a team score of 342.

During the 2011 CCSA Championships, Georgia Southern finished in fourth place, followed by North Florida in fifth and Liberty in sixth.

The Lady Flames have opened the 2011-12 campaign with a 3-0 dual-meet record, as Liberty is the only team in the CCSA to be undefeated in dual-meet action so far this season. Liberty won the season-opener, coming from behind to win, 147-141 on Oct. 22 at Marshall. The team then posted a 172-116 victory over Radford in its lone home meet, Oct. 28.

Most recently the Lady Flames defeated Campbell, 151-111, on Nov. 4 in Buies Creek.

During the early part of this season, relays have been a source of strength for Liberty, as the Lady Flames have placed first and second in all but one relay race. Liberty's 1-2 finish in the meet-ending 200 freestyle relay at Marshall provided the Lady Flames with their winning margin.

Freshman Erin Curry was named CCSA Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 26 after winning three events and breaking two program records during Liberty's season-opening win over Marshall. Curry currently holds Liberty's records in the 200 backstroke (2:08.32) and 400 individual medley (4:34.95). She is the second Liberty swimmer to be named CCSA Swimmer of the Week, after Brye Ravettine did so last season.

Curry's classmate, Emily Duff, has also put her name in the Liberty record books this season. She lowered both the 1000 freestyle (10:40.44) and 200 IM (2:10.74) program standards at Campbell on Nov. 4 at Campbell.

Eight different Liberty swimmers have registered individual event victories this season. Liberty swimmers have won all races of the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 200 IM and 400 IM in the fall of 2011. The Lady Flames have 11 top-five individual times on the most recent conference cumulative performance list.

Liberty has been very strong in the sprint free events, winning the 50 and 100 free during each of the team's three dual meets this season. Ravettine, Cori Gary and Marley Cripe have each posted sprint free victories.

The Lady Flames have had the winner in the individual medley during each meet, as Curry has won both of the 200 and 400 IM, and Duff claimed the 200 IM at Campbell. Ravettine and Duff have each won the 100 back this season.

Following the Radford Invitational, Liberty's next team meet will take place Jan. 7, 2012 in Fort Myers, Fla. The Lady Flames will compete against the host Florida Gulf Coast, along with University of North Dakota and Georgia Tech.
