Liberty defender Chris Phillips was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week

After being selected the 2011 Big South Tournament MVP, Liberty defender Chris Phillips has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week ending Nov. 13.

Phillips, a redshirt senior from Brownsburg, Ind., received the honor from the College Soccer News (National Team of the Week) after playing an integral part of Liberty's defense this past weekend, helping the Flames capture the 2011 Big South Championship.

The team captain has played in every minute of each of Liberty's contests this season. Liberty's defense has recorded a Big South-high eight shutouts this year and is allowing 1.00 goals per game this season.

Phillips and the Flames, 11-6-2, will find out later this afternoon where and when they will open play in the NCAA Tournament, as the 48-team field is announced at 4:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
