Liberty goalkeeper Scott Sutarik has been named the Big South Defender of the Week.

Liberty goalkeeper Scott Sutarik has been selected as the Big South Defensive Player of the Week.

Sutarik, a freshman keeper from Palatine, Ill., made four saves in a 3-0 win over Radford on Nov. 2, recording his fourth shutout of the season.  He set the tone early in the contest as he turned away a Highlander attack from six yards out in the fifth minute of the contest.  He also came up big in the 19th minute with a stop on a point blank shot to keep Radford off the board.

Sutarik earns his first Defensive Player of the Week honor and becomes the second Flame to garner the weekly honor this season.  Teammate Uriah Bentick received the award for Sept. 21.

In six games this season, Sutarik has posted a 0.64 goals-against average and a .840 save percentage. He and the Flames will face Radford in the opening round of the 2011 Big South Championship at Greene-Harbison Stadium in Boiling Springs, N.C., Thursday.  Match time is scheduled for Noon.
