Leading into each weekend's football match-up, the Flames Sports Network will release a video preview package, taking an in-depth look into Liberty's upcoming opponent.

During this week's FSN Opponent Preview, Nick Pierce of the Flames Sports Network takes a look at Liberty's game against VMI, the Flames' Military Appreciation Day opponent.

The Flames have experienced some level of success recently against the Keydets, having won the last five games in the series to widen their overall series advantage to 7-3.

During the current five-game series winning streak, Liberty has outscored VMI by an average of 26.2 points per game, a figure bolstered by a 54-14 victory the last time the two teams squared off at Williams Stadium (Nov. 7, 2009).

The Keydets have struggled offensively this season, with VMI ranking No. 112 in the country by averaging 275.13 total offensive yards per game (out of 124 FCS programs). As a point of comparison, Liberty leads the Big South and ranks No. 20 nationally in the same statistical category (423.22 yards per game).

Saturday's match-up will feature two of the Big South's top three passing defenses. Liberty is second in the league, holding opponents to 179.8 passing yards per game, while VMI follows just behind the Flames having held its opponents to 205.1 passing yards per contest.
