Lauren Stell (pictured) and Silvia Betancourt were named to the Big South All-Conference second team, while Maddie Boone was named to the all-freshman team and Karen Blocker receieved all-academic team honors.

Heading into the 2011 Big South Women's Soccer Championship on Thursday, a quartet of Liberty Lady Flames received all-conference honors this afternoon, as announced by the conference office.

Two Liberty players were tabbed to the second team – midfielder Silvia Betancourt and forward/defender Lauren Stell. Freshman Maddie Boone was named to the all-freshman team and goalkeeper Karen Blocker earned a spot on this year's all-academic team.

Betancourt was one of three Lady Flames to have four goals on the season. The San Jose, Costa Rica native also chipped in two assists during the 2011 campaign. Two of the senior's four goals were game-winners against Coastal Carolina (1-0, Sept. 29) and Charleston Southern (3-1, Oct. 1). Betancourt enters Thursday's contest third all-time on Liberty's career goals list with 23 and tied for second with Amy Oberlin in career points with 54.

Switching from defense to attack, Stell proved to be a contributor on both ends of the field in 2011. The Exton, Pa., native led the Lady Flames in assists with four. The junior also netted goals during Liberty's 2-1 victory over George Washington as well as the Lady Flames' 2-1 comeback win over VMI.

Boone, who appeared in all 18 contests for the Lady Flames, was credited with the game-winning assist against Coastal Carolina, finding Betancourt in the 74th minute, who finished on the play for the 1-0 final. The freshman also chipped in assists in contests against Winthrop and Radford.

After missing the entire 2010 season due to injury, Blocker returned to the lineup this season, earning Big South Defensive Player of the Week Honors on Sept. 7. On Sept. 23, she recorded her 200th career save and is currently third all-time in the Liberty record books with 242 saves. Blocker also has 11 career shutouts, placing her second on Liberty's career shutouts list in front of former teammate Ashley Nyholt (2007-10). In addition to her accomplishments on the field this season, Blocker is also a three-time Big South Presidential Honor Roll member.

Betancourt, Stell, Boone and Blocker and the rest of the Lady Flames enter the 2011 Big South Championship as the No. 5 seed, taking on No. 4 High Point. Game time at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C. is slated for 11:30 a.m.
