Flames Move up to No. 22 in Both FCS Polls
FCS Coaches Poll
Following its first overtime victory since the 2003 season, Liberty has moved up to No. 22 in both the Sports Network/Fathead.com and FCS Coaches polls, which were released earlier today by each organization.
The Flames returned to both FCS Top 25 polls last week, following a four-week hiatus. Liberty moved up one spot in the Sports Network listing and two notches in this week's FCS Coaches poll.
Liberty claimed its fifth-straight victory and moved to 6-3 on the season, following a thrilling 27-20 double overtime win on Saturday against Presbyterian College.
Both polls have a new No. 1 team, as North Dakota State prevailed, 27-19, over previous No. 2 Northern Iowa, allowing the Bison to claim the top spot and an unbeaten 8-0 record.
Montana State moved up to No. 2 in both listings following a 54-13 victory over Idaho State, while Appalachian State dethroned previous No. 1 Georgia Southern, 24-17, at home and is ranked No. 3 in each poll.
Sam Houston State, one of two remaining undefeated FCS teams in the country, is ranked No. 4 in the Sports Network poll and No. 5 in the FCS Coaches listing. Following their seven-point lose to Southern Conference rival Appalachian State, the Eagles fall to No. 5 and 4 in the respective polls, to round out each listing's top five teams.
No. 22/22 Liberty will put its 14-game home Big South winning streak on the line this Saturday when the Flames host conference rival and in-state foe VMI. Kickoff at the Military Appreciation Day game is set for 3:30 p.m.
