Head coach Brant Tolsma has guided the Liberty men's and women's cross country teams to 19 Big South Conference championships.

With the 2011 Big South Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships set for Saturday, Nick Pierce caught up with Liberty Head Cross Country Coach Brant Tolsma.

Liberty will be trying to defend three championships at Coastal Carolina's Quail Creek Golf Club in Conway, S.C. Both the men's and women's squads captured team titles a year ago, and Jennifer Klugh was the Big South women's individual champion.

At 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, the Liberty men's team will attempt to become the first Big South men's cross country squad ever to win seven consecutive conference titles.

The women's race will follow at 11:30 a.m., where the Lady Flames will shoot for their third straight Big South championship and fifth in the last six years. If Klugh is victorious in the women's race, she would join Heather Sagan as the only two-time Big South women's cross country individual champions in program history.
