Curry Named CCSA Swimmer of Week
Liberty freshman Erin Curry has been named CCSA Swimmer of the Week, Wednesday, after setting two program records during Liberty's season-opening, 147-141 victory at Marshall.
Curry, a Linwood, N.J., native, claimed victory in the 200 backstroke and in the 400 individual medley (IM), Saturday at Marshall. She also swam the breaststroke leg during Liberty's first-place 200 medley relay.
She broke the program record with a 2:08.32 in the 200 backstroke, good for the second best time in the CCSA this season. Curry swam a Liberty-record 4:34.95 in the 400 IM, the third-fastest clocking in the conference. Her relay leg, a 31.56 breaststroke, helped the Lady Flames post a 1:47.88, the second best 200 medley relay time of any CCSA team this year.
Curry is the second Liberty swimmer to be named CCSA Swimmer of the Week in the two-year history of the program. Brye Ravettine earned swimmer of the week honors as a freshman, Jan. 12, 2011.
The Lady Flames compete in their lone home meet, Friday at 5 p.m. against Radford. Liberty will host the Highlanders in the LaHaye Aquatics Center.
