Liberty Welcomes Campbell for Homecoming Weekend
Looking to return to the win column, the Liberty women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday, playing host to Campbell. The matchup at Osborne Stadium is slated to begin at 7 p.m., and is part of Liberty's Homecoming festivities.

A Look at the Lady Flames
Liberty currently sits in fifth place in the Big South standings, sporting a 5-5-3 record overall and a 2-2-1 mark in conference action. The Lady Flames look to return to the win column Saturday, after going 0-2-1 in their last three matchups. This past Tuesday, Liberty fell to preseason favorite High Point, 1-0, at Vert Stadium.
Midfielder Silvia Betancourt leads Liberty with four goals on the season, followed by forward Aimee Luurtsema with three. Goalkeeper Karen Blocker has played all 13 contests in goal for the Lady Flames and holds a 1.46 goals-against average. The netminder also has 61 saves on the year (.753 save percentage).
A Look at the Camels
Campbell enters Saturday's matchup with a 9-3-2 overall record is third in the Big South standings with a 3-0-2 mark in conference play.
The Camels are coming off a scoreless draw with preseason favorite High Point on Thursday. Prior to the stalemate, Campbell also played Presbyterian College to a 2-2 tie, last Saturday.
Forward Ashley Clark is currently tied for No. 1 in the Big South in goals (9), assists (5) and points (23). On the defensive end, goalkeeper Ryann Torrero leads the league with a 1.03 goals-against average and a save percentage of .803 (61 saves).
Liberty-Campbell All-time Series Notes
Campbell currently holds a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series against Liberty. Campbell played its first two games of the series as a member of the Big South (1992, 1993) and returns to the conference this season after spending the last 17 years in the Atlantic Sun. The Lady Flames' lone win versus the Camels occurred on Oct. 9, 2000, as Liberty bested Campbell, 3-0. Liberty went on to capture its first-ever Big South Championship, that year.
The most recent meeting between the two squads took place the following season (Sept. 8, 2001). Campbell defeated the Lady Flames at Liberty Soccer Field, 1-0. That year, Liberty repeated as conference champions.
Returning to Form
In Saturday's contest against Winthrop, forward Aimee Luurtsema finished with two goals, scoring for the first time since Liberty's season opener against No. 10 Virginia (Aug. 26). The senior is now tied for fifth in program history in both goals (19) and points (47).
Despite the tie against Gardner-Webb on Oct. 6, Liberty goalkeeper Karen Blocker achieved a milestone with her 10th career shutout. The redshirt junior netminder is now second all-time on Liberty's career shutouts list.
