Liberty head volleyball coach Shane Pinder has announced the addition of former Lady Flames standout Becky Rudnick to his coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Rudnick returns to the Liberty volleyball coaching staff, where she previously served as graduate assistant in 2006 and 2007. She helped guide the Lady Flames to the 2007 Big South championship, and also won a conference title as a player in 2001. She joins current assistant coach Jennifer Vaden, as both Rudnick and Vaden played at Liberty from 2001-04.

"We are excited to add Becky back to the staff," Pinder stated. "As a player, she was part of the 2001 championship, and she was a staff member during our 2007 championship season. Becky has always had a passion for Liberty Athletics and our volleyball program. I know that Liberty volleyball will benefit from her daily commitment and hard work."

Rudnick joins the Lady Flames' staff after serving as a reading specialist and first grade teacher at Robert S. Payne Elementary School in Lynchburg, Va.

After completing her graduate assistantship in 2008, she continued to provide volleyball instruction as a head volleyball coach with the Heart of Virginia Volleyball Club from 2009-11. Additionally, she volunteered as an assistant volleyball coach at Randolph College during the fall of 2010.

Prior to her first coaching stint at Liberty, Rudnick coached the Celtic Force Volleyball Club, a team of 16-year-old players based in Palos Heights, Ill., in 2005. She also taught third grade at Churchill Elementary School in Homewood, Ill., during the 2005-06 academic year.

A four-year letterwinner for the Lady Flames, Rudnick was part of the 2001 squad which won the Big South championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. She currently ranks 10th all-time at Liberty with 1,164 career kills. Rudnick was a first-team All-Big South honoree as a junior in 2003, and earned mention as a Big South All-Tournament team selection in 2004.

Rudnick graduated with high honors from Liberty in May 2005, earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She graduated with a Master of Education in 2008, qualifying her as a reading specialist.
