High Point Holds Off Lady Flames, Tuesday
Looking to climb back into the win column, the Liberty women's soccer team squared off with Big South preseason favorite High Point, Tuesday night. Following a first-half Panthers goal off a penalty kick, the Lady
Flames were unable to find the equalizer, leading to a 1-0 loss at Vert Stadium.
With the defeat, Liberty falls to 5-5-3 overall and 2-2-1 in Big South play. High Point improves to 5-8-2 on the year and 3-1-1 in conference action.
Kelli Joline netted the Panthers' lone goal in the 37th minute, connecting on a penalty shot for her sixth goal of the season.
Liberty had two chances to even the score in the 42nd minute. Juniors Lauren Stell and Emily Hoy each took shots at the Panthers' net, but High Point goalkeeper Andrea Ritchie corralled both attempts to keep the Lady Flames scoreless.
In the second half, Hoy tried to knot the contest again in the 76th minute. Just like the first half, Ritchie was there to make the save.
