With the 2011-12 men's basketball season just over a month away, Liberty head coach Dale Layer put his team to the test this week with the Flames' third annual boot camp.

A prelude to the team's first official practice next Friday, Liberty's boot camp combines conditioning and team building exercises designed to physically and mentally prepare the Flames for the season.

Alan York of the Flames Sports Network caught up with Layer and senior point guard Jesse Sanders to find out what boot camp is all about. The following video provides a sneak peek at the conditioning sessions, as well as interviews from Liberty's head coach and floor general.

The 2011-12 season begins Aug. 9, when the Flames travel to College Station, Texas, to take on Texas A&M in the regional round of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer. Tipoff inside Reed Arena is slated for 8 p.m. (EST). Liberty makes its 2011-12 Vines Center debut on Nov. 11, playing host to Randolph College at 7 p.m.
