Flames Game Day Central - Liberty vs. Coastal Carolina

The Flames continue Big South Conference action on Saturday when they travel to Conway, S.C., to face the two-time defending conference champion Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. at Brooks Stadium where the Flames will meet the Chanticleers, who rank 22nd nationally according to the Sports Network and 23rd according to College Sports News.

Liberty enters the game after a pair of heartbreaking losses to in-state opponent William & Mary, 14-13, and to Gardner-Webb, 27-24, in the Flames' conference opener.

Coastal Carolina has been eagerly awaiting the Flames for more than a week as the Chanticleers are coming off a bye week. Coastal Carolina's last game was a thrilling 31-27 come-from-behind victory over VMI in both team's conference opener, marking the Chanticleers' fourth-straight win to run their record to 5-2 on the year.

Coastal Carolina boasts the second-best offense in the nation as it is averaging 453.29 total offensive yards per game, including 272.43 passing yards (ranking sixth in the country). Individually, quarterback Tyler Thigpen leads the nation in total offense (327.14 yards) and ranks third in passing efficiency (166.59), making him a viable candidate for the Walter Payton Award.

Defensively, linebacker Jamar Leath leads the team and ranks 19th nationally in tackles per game (10.29) and his 72 tackles this year have moved him atop the Big South career tackle list (320 career tackles).
