Liberty's next cross country meet will be the Charlotte Invitational on Sept. 30.

On the heels of the Coastal Carolina Invitational/Big South Preview, Nick Pierce caught up with Liberty Head Cross Country Coach Brant Tolsma and redshirt junior Zac Edwards.

Edwards won Saturday's men's 8K race by 15 seconds, helping the Flames capture the men's team title by 15 points over Big South preseason favorite High Point. As a result, Edwards was named Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week by both the Big South and ECAC.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Klugh finished fourth overall and first among Big South runners in Saturday's women's 5K race. The performance earned the Liberty redshirt junior the Big South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor.

Liberty's next meet will be the Charlotte Invitational, scheduled for Sept. 30 at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C. The women's 5K race will begin at 4 p.m., with the men's 8K to follow at 4:30.
