Flames Game Day Central - Liberty vs. Gardner-Webb

Saturday's game between Liberty and Gardner-Webb marks the beginning of Big South Conference play for both Flames and the Bulldogs, kicking off the league's fifth year of competition. Kickoff fort the game is set for 1 p.m. at Williams Stadium.

Liberty is coming off a heartbreaking 14-13 Homecoming loss to William & Mary at Williams Stadium last weekend where a school and Big South record 15,631 attended the contest. Rashad Jennings pushed his Big South Conference leading rushing total up to 763 yards on the year as the sophomore rushed for 186 yards on 22 carries, marking his second-best rushing effort of the year.

Gardner-Webb enters the game riding a two-game winning streak with a road victory over Southeastern Louisiana, 28-21, and a home win over Glenville State, raising the team's record to 4-2 this year.

Quarterback Devin Campbell leads Gardner-Webb's offense as he has passed for 1,019 yards and seven touchdowns, completing 78-of-149 pass attempts. Four of the seven scoring passes have been caught by wide receiver Duvaughn Flagler, ranking third best in the league by a wide out.

Defensively, linebacker Mario E. Brown leads the Big South Conference and ranks 13th nationally with 64 tackles, while adding a team-high 6.5 tackles for a loss, 3.0 sacks, three interceptions and four pass breakups.
