For the third time this season, Liberty University junior Josh McDougal has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

McDougal (Jr., Peru, N.Y.) reestablished himself as one of the favorites to win the NCAA national cross country title on Saturday with his victory in the Pre-Nationals 8K White race. McDougal's winning time of 23:14 was the fastest of the day's two races and was just two seconds off of his own course record at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.

Saturday's win was McDougal's fourth of the season. He remains unbeaten in his collegiate cross country career outside of the national meet, a span that includes 17 races.

The Liberty men's and women's cross country teams are off this weekend. The Flames and Lady Flames will compete in the Big South Cross Country Championships on Oct. 28 in Charleston, S.C. McDougal is the two-time defending individual champion at the meet and the Liberty men's squad took home the Big South team title a season ago.
