Liberty Men's Soccer Adds Contest to 2011 Schedule
The Liberty Flames men's soccer team has announced that it has added an additional game to its 2011 schedule.
The Flames will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., on Aug. 27 to play the IUPUI Jaguars. The contest will now be Liberty's season opener. Match time at IUPUI's Kuntz Stadium is scheduled for Noon.
IUPUI, a member of the Summit League, posted a 9-8-2 overall record in 2010 and a 4-2 conference mark.
IUPUI's head coach Isang Jacob began his collegiate career as a teammate of Flames head coach Jeff Alder at Liberty in 1988 under then head coach Bill Bell.
Liberty posted its fourth straight double-digit win season in 2010, with a 10-7-1 record. The Flames return nine of their 11 starters from a year ago, including first team All-Big South members Darren Amoo, Phillip Aseweh and Uriah Bentick.
Liberty will open its home schedule on Aug. 30, when it hosts the Longwood Lancers at Osborne Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. The match will be the first of eight home games for the Flames during the year.
