Dillon Segur signed on with Head Coach Chris Johnson and the Liberty men's tennis team in last fall and will enroll for the upcoming academic year.

Liberty men's tennis incoming freshman Dillon Segur continues to sharpen his game this summer in preparation for his first collegiate season, including taking part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Summer Circuit.  Segur advanced to the quarterfinals of singles play and semifinals of doubles play over the weekend in an event hosted by Virginia Tech.

Starting in a bracket with more than 40 players, the Winston-Salem, N.C., native posted a pair of wins to be one of the final eight in the men's singles draw.  After defeating Janik Burri, 6-2, 6-2, Segur knocked off Malik Mubeen, who is a former two-time VHSL singles state champion, 6-1, 6-2.  Segur then fell to No. 2 seed Brandon Fickey, who has signed to compete at Tennessee this fall, 6-4, 6-1, in the quarterfinal round.

In doubles play, Segur paired with fellow North Carolinian, Sam Weissler.  The duo advanced into the semifinals with a win over Alejandro Perez and Eddie Elliot, 8-5, before falling to a Big 12 brother combination of John Lewis (Texas A&M) and Jacoby Lewis (Texas signee), 8-4.

The ITA Summer Circuit provides players the opportunity to compete in organized events.  It focuses on providing incoming freshmen and collegiate players the chance to compete in the summer months, but is an open circuit to all ITA members.  The ITA Summer Circuit is made up of eight regional circuits, and culminates with the USTA/ITA National Summer Championships in Bloomington, Ind., in August.

Segur has jumped into summer competition shortly after helping his R.J. Reynolds team to its second-consecutive North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4-A championship title.  As Segur led in his No. 2 match, his team clinched the 5-0 victory over East Chapel Hill in the title match when the two teams squared off at Burlington Tennis Center in Burlington, N.C.
