Keegan Linza and Casey Rasmus were selected to the 2011 Big South Baseball Champion All-Tournament team, Saturday.

Liberty pitcher Keegan Linza and catcher Casey Rasmus were named to the 2011 Big South Baseball Championship All-Tournament team, following the completion of the Big South title game late Saturday afternoon at Gray-Minor Stadium in Lexington, Va.

Senior pitcher Keegan Linza earned all-tournament after throwing his conference-leading fifth complete game in a 5-1 win over Charleston Southern in the game eight of the Big South Championship, Thursday evening.  With the win, the right-hander finished the year with an 11-3 mark, tying former Flames right-hander Jason Jones for the Liberty single-season record for wins. Jones won 11 games in 2004. Linza went the full nine innings, allowing one run on six hits. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter in the game.

After allowing a single to the leadoff hitter in the third inning, the senior retired 15 straight Buccaneer batters until a double by left fielder Matt Still to open the eighth inning. In addition, Linza moved into fifth on the school's single-season inning pitched list with 108 innings of work.

Rasmus joins his battery mate on the squad. The junior catcher was Liberty's leading hitter during the Big South Championship with a .438 batting average over four games. He had a double, a triple and scored four times.

Rasmus had at least one hit in each of the Flames' contests. The junior led Liberty with three hits and scored three times in a 13-4 tournament opening win over No. 5 seed Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, Wednesday, and had two hits and scored twice in a 6-1 victory over No. 3 seed Charleston Southern, Thursday.

The Big South all-tournament team is selected by the media and sports information directors attending the championship. Coastal Carolina designated hitter Keith Hardwick was selected as the tournament's MVP.

Liberty's season came to a close late Friday night with a 5-1 loss to No. 5 seed Gardner-Webb in the double elimination tournament. Liberty finished the season with a 35-24 record.
