Dacia Bushman was named the Big South Women's Track Athlete of the Week after placing fourth in the Drake Relays 10K.

Three Liberty track & field athletes were honored by the Big South Conference today, including Elliot Galeone being named Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Additionally, Dacia Bushman was tabbed Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Jocelyn Williams was honored as Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Galeone, a redshirt senior, continued his strong season in the javelin at the prestigious Drake Relays. He finished third in the competition, with a top throw of 227-5. Galeone finished ahead of both Iowa's Matt Byers (ranked No. 6 nationally) and Georgia's Brian Moore (ranked No. 7 nationally) in the final standings.

Bushman also competed at the Drake Relays, in her home state of Iowa. The senior placed fourth in the 27-member women's 10K field, clocking a time of 35:17.48.

Meanwhile, Williams was successful in the women's throwing events at the Radford Invitational. The freshman won the discus and placed second in the shot put, setting new personal-best marks in both events.

Williams' discus toss of 142-7 qualified her for the ECAC meet and moved her up to No. 4 in program history. She also defeated VMI's Mary Grace Lemon, who won the Big South discus title and was voted Big South Freshman of the Year.

In the shot put, Williams threw over 40 feet for the first time. Her mark of 40-1.25 ranks No. 7 in program history.

Both Galeone and Williams are scheduled to compete today in Liberty's final home meet of the season, the Liberty Twilight Qualifier. Galeone is entered in the men's discus and javelin, while Williams will throw the discus and hammer. The meet will begin at 1 p.m. at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex at Osborne Stadium.
