T.J. Knoche (middle) is presented the 2010 Jeffrey O. Taylor Memorial Scholarship last season. The scholarship will be presented again this year on Saturday in between games of the UNC Asheville-Liberty baseball game.

Saturday afternoon, the Liberty baseball team will host the UNC Asheville Bulldogs in a Big South doubleheader, starting at 1 p.m.  The day has been designated the Jeffrey Taylor Memorial Scholarship Day. Between games of the twinbill at Worthington Stadium, the Jeffery Taylor Memorial Scholarship recipient will be announced.

Throughout the day, information about the Jeffrey Owen Taylor Memorial Scholarship will be available at a table near the concession stand.

Jeff Taylor was a former Liberty University professor and avid baseball fan, who tragically passed away in April 2009. The late Liberty University Athletic Training professor began working at Liberty in 2000, as the head athletic trainer in the Liberty athletics department.  In 2003, he became the Clinical Coordinator for all Athletic Training students.

Awarding the scholarship this year in a contest with UNC Asheville enjoys extra significance, as Taylor was an athletic trainer at UNC Asheville for eight seasons and helped start the training program at the school.  One of the teams he worked with during his time at Asheville was the Bulldog baseball program.

Last season, the first recipient of the scholarship, T.J. Knoche, was announced just before Liberty's April 30 game against Gardner-Webb at Worthington Stadium.
