With the Hokies leading Liberty, 5-0, Wednesday's game two of a non-conference doubleheader was suspended due to inclement weather in the Lynchburg area.

The game is tentatively scheduled to be resumed May 4 at 4 p.m. at Liberty Softball Field.

The Hokies took an early lead in the top of the first. After starting pitcher Tiffani Smith walked in a run, she was relieved by Alyssa DiMartino with the bases loaded and nobody out. At that point, Betty Rose ripped a grand slam to right center, giving Virginia Tech a 5-0 advantage.

Ashley Bensinger led off the bottom of the second with a single through the left side. But the Hokie defense came up with three straight outs to maintain their 5-0 lead.

Liberty is back in action tomorrow, resuming a game at Radford that was suspended back in March. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
