Lady Flames Conclude Spring Competition

Kelly Haseman led the Lady Flames with 35 digs on Saturday, as Liberty faced four teams at the Duke Spring Tournament in Durham, N.C.

The Liberty Lady Flames picked up wins over North Carolina Central and VCU over the weekend, concluding their 2011 spring volleyball tournament schedule at the Duke Spring Tournament in Durham, N.C. The Lady Flames faced four teams in the event, playing two sets in each contest.

Rising sophomore Lillie Happel led the team with 18 kills on the day, followed by Kaylee Groeneveld with 16. Kendle Rollins and Loren Thomas added 15 kills and 13 kills, respectively.

Rising senior libero Kelly Haseman led the squad with 35 digs, followed by Becca Haraf with 18 and Happel with 14.

Liberty vs. North Carolina
The Lady Flames dropped both sets to the Tarheels, 25-11 and 25-18. Thomas led the team with four kills, hitting .667 in the contest. Rollins added three kills out of seven attempts for a .429 attack percentage.

Liberty vs. Virginia Tech
The Hokies edged the Lady Flames, 25-21 and 25-18, in Liberty's second match of the day. Happel led Liberty with six kills, followed by Rollins with five and Erica Manor with four. Courtney Boggs was also 2-for-3 in kill attempts.

Liberty vs. North Carolina Central
The Lady Flames picked up their first win of the day with a 25-13, 25-22 victory over the Eagles. Groeneveld led the team with five kills and a .444 hitting percentage, and Rollins posted five kills out of 10 attempts.

Liberty vs. VCU
Liberty concluded its appearance in Durham with a 25-16, 25-13 win over the Rams of VCU. Groeneveld once again led the Liberty attack with seven kills and a .400 attack percentage, while Jade Craycraft hit .667 for the match. Happel added six more kills and Thomas recorded three.
