The Lady Flames will take on Gardner-Webb this weekend in a three-game conference series.

After splitting a non-conference doubleheader with James Madison on Wednesday, the Liberty Lady Flames are now en route to Boiling Springs, N.C., to take on Gardner-Webb in a three-game conference series this weekend.

A doubleheader is scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Live stats will be available for all three contests via GameTracker, and all games will also be video streamed live on the Big South Network. Links can be found on LibertyFlames.com.

After dropping the first game to the Dukes, 4-3, Liberty (15-18, 5-3 Big South) stormed back for a 9-7 victory in game two. Kaylee West was the star of the game, enjoying a career day with two home runs and five RBIs.

Four Lady Flames are batting over .300 this season: Keely McMillon (.386), Kelly Strickland (.383), Jill Stephens (.308) and Ashley Bensinger (.304). The current team batting average is .276, and the Lady Flames recorded 14 hits in Wednesday's game two win over James Madison. The season high for Liberty is 16 hits, which took place against Winthrop on April 2.

Katrina Johnson leads the pitching staff with a 9-5 record and a 2.54 ERA. Meanwhile, senior Tiffani Smith picked up a win and a loss on Wednesday, and is now 5-10 on the year with 56 strikeouts.

The Bulldogs (11-19, 3-5 Big South), are the only Big South team other than Liberty to post a win over defending league champion Radford this season.

Freshman infielder Samantha Meenaghan leads the squad with a .350 batting average, while Morgan Baker is hitting .329 with 15 RBIs.

The Gardner-Webb pitching staff is led by Jessica Childers, who is 7-8 on the year with a team-low 2.94 ERA. Cindy Boomhower is 4-10 with a 3.14 ERA.

Most recently, the Bulldogs dropped two games to Big South opponent Winthrop at home on Wednesday, 7-3 and 5-1. Their last win came as a 3-2 decision over Presbyterian College on April 5.

The Lady Flames are 10-3 all-time against the Bulldogs, after picking up victories in all three regular-season contests last season at Liberty Softball Field. The Lady Flames struggled in Boiling Springs two years ago, as Gardner-Webb won two out of three while hosting Liberty on April 10 and 11, 2009.
