Jordan Jenkins and Alexandra Sheeran claimed the Lady Flames' sixth and seventh Big South weekly women's tennis awards for the 2011 season.

The Liberty Lady Flames have swept the Big South's weekly women's tennis honors for the second time this season, with Jordan Jenkins being named the conference's Player of the Week and Alexandra Sheeran being honored as the Freshman of the Week. The conference announced the awards, which cover matches played April 4-10, earlier today.

The duo's recognition comes as a result of their performances in the Lady Flames' 4-0 week, which included a 3-0 mark against Big South opponents. The four wins allowed the team to stretch its win streak to eight matches, while also grabbing a share of first place in the conference with Coastal Carolina and Winthrop.

Jenkins' week saw her post a combined 6-0 record, all coming at the No. 1 singles and doubles spots. In the early week matches, Jenkins competed solely in doubles with Hannah Fick, as the pair defeated Gardner-Webb's Jenny Lunde and Ioana Oprea, 8-5, and Longwood's Marta Pinyol and Zsofia Jakab, 8-3.

Against Radford, the senior notched two more victories, pairing with Fick again to take down Petra Dajevic and Mia Drobnjak, 8-4 in doubles. She then beat out Dajevic in singles, 6-0, 6-1, helping complete the 7-0 sweep of the Higlanders.

Wrapping up her week, Jenkins played a critical role in the Lady Flames' defeat of Coastal Carolina. In doubles, she and Fick secured the doubles point with a 9-7 win over Lexi Bolesky and Mikaela Kristofersson, despite facing a 3-6 deficit in the contest. In singles, Jenkins clinched the win for Liberty by rallying to defeat Bolesky in three sets. After dropping the opening set, 6-3, the Sarasota, Fla., native won the final two, 6-4, 7-5, to cap off her senior day with a win.

Meanwhile, Sheeran went 6-2 in her week's action, including a 4-0 singles record. The Savannah, Ga., native's first two singles wins came at the No. 3 slot in Liberty's lineup. Against Gardner-Webb, Sheeran defeated Laura Kriett in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 before taking down Longwood's Veronika Bohm, 6-3, 6-0 the following day.

The freshman's next two singles wins came at the No. 4 position. Sheeran defeated Ivana Tomaic, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) to sweep Radford, 7-0. In the Lady Flames' win over Coastal Carolina, Sheeran pulled out another three-set match, beating Kourtney Kowal, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to help the team claim the victory.

In doubles, Sheeran and classmate Cameron Richard notched two wins on the week. The duo defeated Longwood's No. 2 pair of Bethany Law and Allison Shulman, 8-6 and then took down Radford's Mirna Matic and Ivana Tomaic, 8-3, again at the No. 2 position.

The two awards mark the sixth and seventh time a Liberty women's tennis player has been recognized by the Big South this season, while Sheeran becomes the fifth different Liberty women's tennis player to garner an award during the 2011 campaign.

Jenkins and freshman Cameron Richard provided the first sweep of the weekly women's tennis conference awards, taking the Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week awards for Jan. 24-30. The following week (Jan. 31-Feb. 6), Hannah Fick garnered Player of the Week honors. Richard then notched her second conference nod on the season, being named Player of the Week for March 7-13. Rebekah Jenkins picked up Freshman of the Week honors for the week of March 21-27.

The Lady Flames wrap up their 2011 regular season with a road Big South Conference match, facing UNC Asheville at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
