For the second straight week, both the Liberty men's and women's outdoor track & field teams are ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I Regional Index. The Flames remained at No. 6 in the Southeast Region, while the Lady Flames climbed two spots to No. 12.

North Carolina owns a slim lead over Virginia Tech atop the men's regional rankings, while the Clemson women's team is a clear leader in the women's standings. Liberty is the only Big South Conference team represented in the regional rankings.

Kolby Shepherd provided the biggest highlight for the Flames last week, tying the long-standing school record with a 17-6.5 clearance in the pole vault at the Texas Relays. Elliot Galeone also solidified his hold on the Big South lead in the men's discus with a personal-best 174-6 toss.

Meanwhile, a trio of Lady Flames took over the conference lead in their respective events last week. Olivia Charnuski clocked a 13.93 in the 100 hurdles, Meghan Burggraf ran 2:13.33 in the 800 and Christina Mitchell posted a score of 4,968 in the heptathlon.

Liberty is taking this weekend off from competition, in preparation for the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The meet will be held April 21-23 in Lexington, Va.
