Liberty Adds Game Against Defending National Champion South Carolina

The Liberty Flames baseball team has announced the addition of a game to its 2011 schedule.

The Flames will travel to Columbia, S.C., to square off with the 2010 National Champion South Carolina Gamecocks on April 26 at Carolina Stadium.  First pitch of the non-conference game is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Gamecocks are currently ranked No. 3 nationally, having posted a 26-5 overall record and are tied with Vanderbilt atop the SEC East standings at 10-2.

After taking a three-game series at High Point this past weekend, Liberty enters the week at 17-16 overall and 7-5 in the Big South.  Down 9-7 entering the ninth inning Sunday afternoon, the Flames rallied for seven runs to defeat the Panthers, 14-9.

Liberty travels to Harrisonburg, Va., for a non-conference contest with the James Madison Dukes, Tuesday.  First pitch at Veterans Memorial Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
