Volleyball Kicks Off Spring Competition

Lillie Happel led the Lady Flames with 30 kills on the weekend.

The Liberty Lady Flames volleyball team wrapped up a 2-2 performance at its first spring tournament appearance in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend.

Liberty defeated VCU and Norfolk State, and dropped contests to Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Rising sophomore Lillie Happel led the team with 30 kills on the weekend, followed by Loren Thomas with 15 and Kendle Rollins with 13. The middle blocker duo of Thomas and Rollins both hit over .300 on the weekend. Kelly Haseman recorded the most digs with 36, followed by Happel with 30 and Becca Haraf with 22.

Happel was the team leader in all four matches in kills.

The Lady Flames continue their spring slate on April 9, competing in a tournament at Virginia Tech. Liberty will then conclude the spring season April 16 at Duke.
