Liberty senior Karyl Bacon was named honorable mention for the Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU) Stellar Spiker team.

In honoring the 103 student athletes from across the nation, CVU.com looked for players that exhibited excellence and balance. While NCAA statistical rankings were considered, they weren't the only consideration.

Also considered in forming the two teams of 14, and in choosing the 75 honorable mention selections, was the impact the player had on helping her team succeed, as well as conference awards.

Bacon, the first player in program history to be a part of four Big South regular-season championship teams, was a 2010 Big South all-conference and all-academic team selection. The outside hitter from Temecula, Calif., was also a member of the VaSID all-state first team after totaling 496 kills and 333 digs to cap off a successful four-year career at Liberty.
