Hannah Fick rallied to pick up her win in the No. 2 singles position against Davidson.

The Liberty women's tennis team made program history on Thursday evening at the Knobloch Indoor Tennis Center in Davidson, N.C., blanking Davidson, 7-0, for its first win ever over the Wildcats.

The win improves the Lady Flames record to 2-1, and is their second consecutive program-first victory over an opponent. Last weekend, Liberty defeated West Virginia, 5-2, for the first time in three tries. However, this defeat breaks a longer streak, as Davidson was 7-0 against the Lady Flames before Thursday's match up. The loss levels Davidson at 3-3.

It had also been a while since the Lady Flames posted a shutout in a match. The last time the Lady Flames swept a match was on March 31, 2009, in a 7-0 defeat of Radford.

The Lady Flames began the match in familiar fashion by winning the doubles point. Liberty has taken the point in each of their matches so far this year. Jordan Jenkins and Cameron Richard once again led the way with a win int No. 1 doubles, blanking Nisha Crauser and Stephani Synn, 8-0.

Hannah Fick and Rebekah Jenkins took the No. 2 doubles contest over Brites Moniz-Soares and Alison Rauh, 8-6, while Carol Lobel and Valeriya Klintsevich completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win over Sam Galainena and Romina Clemente in the No. 3 spot.

Liberty kept momentum rolling in singles play, taking each of the six matches. Five of the contests were secured in straight sets.

In the No. 1 spot, Jordan Jenkins took care of Rauh easily, 6-1, 6-0, to begin the Lady Flames run of singles wins.

Fick and Crouser played the closest singles contest on the evening in the No. 2 contest, with the winner being determined in a third set tie breaker. After dropping the opening set, 6-2, Fick forced a tiebreaker in the second by squaring the match at a set a piece, 7-6 (5). In a super tie breaker to determine the third set, Fick secured her first singles win of the season, taking the set, 10-7.

Freshmen dominated the third through fifth spots in Liberty's line-up. Playing in the No. 3 singles position in head coach Chris Johnson's line-up, Cameron Richard overtook Moniz-Soares, 6-2, 6-2. In the No. 4 spot, Alexandra Sheeran took down Galainena, 6-3, 6-3, while Rebekah Jenkins continued the sweep, defeating Clemente, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 5 contest.

Johnson's freshmen class has hit the courts running this spring, posting an 11-5 combined record over the Lady Flames first three matches.

Lobel rounded out the sweep of the Wildcats with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Faizzi Bschoner in the No. 6 spot in the line-up.

The women's tennis team takes a short time away from competition, returning to the courts in 10 days, when they travel to the Tar Heel State once again. On Feb. 13, the Lady Flames will meet UNC Wilmington, followed by a match with Campbell on Feb. 14. Both matches are slated to begin at 1 p.m.
