Jordan Jenkins (L) and Cameron Richard (R) were honored by the Big South on Tuesday with weekly awards.

After their first weekend of competition this spring, the Lady Flames have swept the Big South's weekly women's tennis honors, as announced by the conference office earlier today.

Jordan Jenkins has been selected the Women's Tennis Player of the Week and Cameron Richard garnered honors as the Freshman of the Week. The award covers matches played Jan. 24-30, in which the Lady Flames went 1-1.

Senior Jenkins, who is currently No. 20 in the ITA Women's Atlantic Region rankings, went 3-0 to open the spring season, competing at No. 1 singles and doubles. In her singles win, she rallied from behind to earn a three-set win over West Virginia's Melis Tanik, 4-6, 7-6 (1), 6-2, helping the Lady Flames pick up a 5-2 victory over the Mountaineers.

In doubles, Jenkins paired with teammate, Richard, going 2-0 in the No. 1 spot. The duo defeated Appalachian State's No. 1 pair, 9-8 (3), while knocking off West Virginia's top combo, 9-7.

Birmingham, Ala., native Richard opened her spring collegiate career with a 3-1 combined record. As previously mentioned, Richard teamed with Jenkins to pick up two doubles wins at the No. 1 spot over Appalachian State and West Virginia. In singles, Richard posted a victory in the No. 2 position in the Liberty line-up over West Virginia's Emily Mathis, 6-3, 6-3.

Jenkins, Richard and the Lady Flames return to the courts this Thursday, as they travel to Davidson, N.C., to take on Davidson. The match is schedule to start at 3 p.m.
