Members of the Liberty women's swimming team took a break from training sessions to volunteer at McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers, Fla.

During their training trip in Fort Myers, Fla., the Liberty Lady Flames swimming team took a break from the pool to volunteer at McGregor Baptist Church, Tuesday morning.

The team helped out wherever they were needed, washing windows, pulling weeds and cleaning sidewalks.

The Lady Flames have been taking part in two-a-day practices at Florida Gulf Coast's outdoor facility, and will cap off the week with a quad meet on Saturday.

"We're just thankful for the opportunity to be down here training, and we wanted to give back while we're here," said Liberty senior Elise Girani. "We also can provide a Christian witness to the other teams, and further the mission of our school."

"We wanted to give back to the southwest Florida community, and remind our women how fortunate they are to have this opportunity," added head coach Jake Shellenberger. "We're excited to be here, and to have the opportunity to train in the sun and race against our conference foes on Saturday."
