The Liberty women's basketball team (4-7, 0-0 Big South) will play La Salle (4-7, 0-0 Atlantic 10) for the first time in program history Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Comcast Center in College Park, Md. The matchup will be the consolation game of the Terrapin Classic.

Both teams lost to nationally-ranked opponents on Tuesday. The Lady Flames led at halftime, before dropping an 81-66 decision to No. 17/17 St. John's. Meanwhile, the Explorers fell by an 83-45 count to the host team, No. 18/20 Maryland.

The contest will be Liberty's final tune-up for Big South Conference play. The Lady Flames begin their 16-game conference schedule Monday at 7 p.m., when they travel to High Point.

Liberty is just 6-22 all-time against the current members of the Atlantic 10 (A-10) Conference, but the Lady Flames won their most recent A-10 matchup. Liberty defeated Commonwealth foe Richmond, 45-38, Jan. 5, 2008 at the Vines Center.

Depth could play a key role in both teams' second game in as many days. Liberty's bench tallied 33 points versus St. John's, while the La Salle bench was held scoreless against Maryland.

Reserve players Danika Dale and LaKendra Washington paced the Lady Flames with 13 points apiece on Tuesday versus St. John's. The point totals set new season highs for both players, while Washington also made a career-best four triples against the Red Storm.

Ebonee Jones, a 5-10 sophomore guard, tallied a career-high 18 points and nine rebounds to lead La Salle on Tuesday. However, 6-1 senior guard Ashley Gale remains the team's leading scorer, averaging 14.7 ppg this season.
