Liberty women's soccer forward Aimee Luurtsema has been named first team all-state by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), as announced by the organization today. The junior is the 14th Lady Flame in program history to receive all-state honors and the eighth to earn a spot on the first team.

Luurtsema led the Lady Flames with 13 goals and 31 points this past season, placing her 21st and 29th nationally in each category. The junior's totals also allowed to her to finish second in the Big South Conference listing in goals and points.

The Grandville, Mich., native concluded the year tied for second in the program's annals for the most goals in a single season and third on Liberty's single-season points list. Along with receiving an all-state selection, Luurtsema also earned second team Big South all-conference honors last month. During the regular season, she was named Big South Player of the Week on two occasions, as well as ECAC Player of the Week.
