Ravettine Wins 50 Free at RU Invitational

Brye Ravettine swam a season-best in the 50 free at the Radford Invitational, taking top honors in the event.

Preliminary Meet Results

Brye Ravettine won the 50y freestyle event, and the Liberty Lady Flames are currently in seventh place after Day 1 of the Radford Highlander Invitational in Radford, Va.

Georgia Southern currently sits in first place with 255 points, while Liberty tallied 94 points on Thursday.
Ravettine's season-best time of 24.25 finished ahead of Courtney Griffith of Mount St. Mary's, who clocked a 24.47 time in the event.

In addition, the Liberty team of Ravettine, Amber Kerico, Bethany Wakeley and Lindsey Romkes finished third in the 400y medley relay with a time of 4:05.34. They finished behind winner Georgia Southern (4:00.36) and second-place Youngstown State (4:03.82).

Other Liberty swimmers who qualified for the finals were the relay team of Romkes, Ravettine, Dani Fletcher and Sarah McCorkle (200y freestyle relay) and Wakeley (500y freestyle).

McCorkle and Fletcher also qualified for the 50y free final, finishing eighth and 11th, respectively.

The three-day meet continues tomorrow, with the preliminaries scheduled for 11 a.m. and the finals beginning at 6 p.m.
