Spring Schedule Announced for Men's Tennis
After completing the fall schedule last weekend in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Liberty Men's Tennis Coach Chris Johnson has announced his team's schedule for the spring season.
The 2011 spring schedule matches the Liberty men's team against quality competition, including three regional foes who ended the season ranked in the ITA's Atlantic Region. UMBC held the highest ranking, finishing the year at No. 6, while fellow Big South member, Radford and Old Dominion finished at No. 7 and No. 9, respectively.
At the end of last season, Liberty earned a No. 10 ranking in the ITA Atlantic Region.
Also on the schedule for the 2011 slate are UNC Wilmington and Big South member, Winthrop, who finished last year ranked No. 8 and No. 10, respectively, in the ITA Carolina Region.
Four of the Flames' matches will bring schools to compete at Liberty University's home tennis courts.
Liberty will meet with six teams from the Big South Conference during the season, and will close out the year at the 2011 Big South Conference Championships, April 20-23 in Rock Hill, S.C.
After finishing last year with a 4-2 record in the Big South and a 12-10 mark overall, the Flames return key players and have also added several members to their rosters that will look to contribute to the team's success in the upcoming season.
Liberty's first match of the spring season will come on Jan. 27, when they travel to the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., to face East Carolina, followed by a match with Bluefield the next day.
