The Liberty Flames men's soccer team will be the No. 4 seed at the upcoming Big South Men's Soccer Championship, which starts Thursday at Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C. The conference announced the seedings and pairings this evening, after the close of the 2010 Big South regular season earlier today.

With their 2-0 victory over UNC Asheville this morning at Osborne Stadium, the Flames tied for third place in the conference standings with the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs with matching 5-3 records and 15 points. Gardner-Webb claimed the No. 3 seed for the tournament due to its victory over Liberty on Oct. 19. The Flames drop to the No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 seed Radford, Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Flames finished the 2010 regular season with a 10-6-1 overall record, collecting a double-digit season win total for the fourth consecutive year and the 15th time in program history.

As mentioned previously, Liberty will meet Radford in its first-round match. The Highlanders posted a 4-3-1 record in conference play for 13 points and fifth place in the standings. Radford, who defeated the Flames, 1-0, on Sept. 12 in Radford, will enter the tournament with a 6-8-3 overall mark.

Host High Point earned the top seed for the Big South Championship with an 8-0 conference record and 24 points. Coastal Carolina garnered the second seed with a 5-2-1 Big South mark and 16 points. Gardner-Webb, Liberty and Radford followed.

Winthrop and VMI tied with identical 3-5 league records and nine points, but Winthrop claimed the No. 6 seed by virtue of a win over the Keydets on Oct. 12. UNC Asheville rounds out the field as the No. 8 seed, finishing the season with a 2-6 Big South mark.
