Following a second-straight Top 5 finish, Robert Karlsson has been named this week's Big South Men's Golf of the Week, as announced by the league.

Karlsson carded a six-under par 210 and finished tied for fifth place at the ODU/OuterBanks Collegiate Golf Tournament earlier this week. The junior opened the event with back-to-back sub-70 rounds, carding a four-under par 68 on Sunday and a three-under par 69 on Monday. Karlsson has now broken the 70-stroke mark four times this year and 11 times for his career.

This marks the second time this year that Karlsson has been named Big South Men's Golfer of the Week and the fourth time in seven weeks a Liberty golfer has won the accolade.

Karlsson's 54-hole total at the ODU hosted event was his lowest of the season and the fifth-lowest of his collegiate career.

Karlsson has now posted a Top 5 finish in two out of four events this fall and 14 out of 25 collegiate events since joining Liberty's roster for the spring 2009 season.

Karlsson currently is the top ranked golfer in the Big South Conference, as he ranks No. 87 in the latest Golfweek rankings and No. 91 according to Golfstat. The junior has the second-best stroke average of any player in the Big South Conference, having posted a 71.58 stroke average in 12 rounds this fall.

Karlsson and the Flames will be off the rest of the fall and will not return to the golf links until the new calendar year. Liberty will open up its spring 2011 schedule on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at the JU Invitational, an event hosted by Jacksonville at the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
