Former Liberty standout Julius Nwosu is currently playing a key role for team Nigeria in the FIBA World Championship hosted by Japan.  On Thursday, Nwosu helped Nigeria cruise to a 95-72 victory over Lebanon to book their place in the second round.

Nwosu was a three-year letterwinner with the Flames from 1991-93 where he scored 1,248 points, good for 12th place on the school's all-time scoring list.

In the game against Lebanon, Nwosu was instrumental to his team jumping out so early.  Nwosu played 24 minutes grabbing 6 rebounds while scoring 11 points en route to the victory.  On Wednesday Nwosu played equally impressive scoring 8 points and grabbing 3 rebounds in ten minutes of play during Nigeria disappointing 98-64 loss to Argentina.  For the tournament Nwosu is averaging 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds a game.

Nigeria must wait to see how things continue to play out in the FIBA World Championships to determine when their next game is.
