Liberty forward Darren Amoo

Liberty forward Darren Amoo and High Point forward Scott Rojo have been selected as the Big South Conference Men's Soccer Co-Players of the Week for games played Sept. 20-26. The Big South office announced the selections this afternoon.

Amoo, a redshirt sophomore from Accra, Ghana, recorded back-to-back multi-goal games as Liberty posted a 2-0 record last week, including a win over Big South foe Winthrop. At Howard on Sept. 21, he connected on a shot from 18 yards out in the 26th minute and followed with a score on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute as Liberty picked up a 4-1 win.

Three days later at Winthrop, Amoo put in two headers, including the game-winner in the Flames' 3-0 win over the Eagles. The games marked his second and third multi-goal matches this season and pushed his career total to seven.

The forward is currently ranked fourth in the country with seven goals and 11th in the nation with a 1.88 points per game average. He leads the Big South Conference in both scoring ( 15 points) and goals. It is the first time in his career he has been named the conference's Player of the Week.

Rojo had a hand in all four goals in High Point's 4-0 win over Gardner-Webb on Sept. 25. Rojo set a school record with three assists in the game and netted the Panthers' first goal.

Liberty will host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, Friday at Osborne Stadium in a Big South match-up. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
