Flames Appear in First South Atlantic Region Poll of Year

The Liberty men's soccer team has been ranked among the South Atlantic Region's top teams in the first regional rankings.

The Flames are ranked ninth in this week's NSCAA regional rankings. Liberty has opened the year at 2-0 with a 6-0 shutout of Bluefield and a 2-0 blanking of Longwood. Virginia, a future Flames opponent, tops the poll.

Six different Liberty players have netted goals for Head Coach Jeff Alder's team already this season. Senior midfielder Thad Taylor and forward Darren Amoo pace the Flames with two goals each.

Liberty participates in the Sculley Memorial Tournament in Lexington, Va., Friday and Sunday. The Flames will face Marshall, Friday at Noon, in the first game of the day at Patchin Field. Liberty will square off with St. Francis (N.Y.), Sunday at 1 p.m.
