Liberty Flames soccer player Osei Telesford has been selected as the Premier Development League (PDL) Defender of the Year and as a member of the 2006 PDL All-League team as voted by the league coaches and general mangers.
Telesford, a rising senior for the Flames, was named the 59-team league's Defender of the Year and was one of only 10 players to be named all-league, after helping the Carolina Dynamo to an unbeaten 14-0-2 regular season mark and the league's regular season championship. The San Juan, Trinidad native saw action in 12 games for the Dynamo as they allowed only 12 goals in 16 games, the third-lowest total allowed in the league in 2006. He also contributed a goal.
Last fall, Telesford was named to the 2005 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Atlantic Region First Team. In addition, he was selected to his third consecutive Big South all-conference team as a midfielder.
