Rounding the Bases with Ashley Bensinger
Today's "Rounding the Bases" segment features Ashley "Benny" Bensinger, a junior from Newark, Del.
Bensinger, a catcher, appeared in 54 games for the Lady Flames this season, starting in 53. She finished the season with a .270 overall batting average and 22 RBIs. Bensinger also led all Big South players with 36 walks, which ranks second in Liberty single-season history.
The daughter of Jamie Pastor and Laraine Scalia is majoring in criminal justice at Liberty.

I love being held to the highest standard. Dr. Falwell always said, "If it's a Christian it should be better." I find it the greatest honor to represent the Lord as a Lady Flame.

In batting practice, my head coach said if I could hit my assistant coach then she would buy me anything I wanted from the candy store. Well, I hit him right in the nose. That was a good lollipop!
If you could be somebody else for a day, who would you be and why?
I would like to walk in someone else's shoes from a third world country. I want to understand what it would feel like to really need.

Having so many opportunities to represent Christ, and traveling is awesome, too!

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
Super speed – to get back my uniforms I lost last year, my Quizno's sub, my contacts, to get through workouts and to always be on time.

I don't really watch TV, but I do love my seasons of the Golden Girls because the show is hilarious.

What is the most exciting thing you did last summer?
The whole summer was the best summer to date, so it's hard to pick one thing. I would have to say living with my best friend and traveling to North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Also, jumping in Smith Mountain Lake, playing cards and fishing.
